Have you ever walked in a place so magical you felt transported to a different world? That was my experience visiting Taipei Fine Arts Museum. 

VISITING TAIPEI FINE ARTS MUSEUM

When I travel, I am not usually one to put much emphasis on the museums. But this summer while I was back home in Taipei, Taiwan, I decided to visit Taipei Fine Arts Museum. I had seen magical looking photos of the then-exhibition on Instagram and wanted to check it out for myself.

I visited Taipei Fine Arts Museum in July, and the exhibition that was on, Arena, was a thought-provoking and interactive experience. This exhibition consisted of 12 Taiwanese Artists and 12 Korean Artists. One installation that still lingers in my mind is the video installation by Sang-hwa Park – Mudeung Fantasia 2.

This installation is a film projected onto layers of thin chiffon-like fabric portraying the passing of the four seasons and thus presenting a cycle of nature. As an audience, you could participate in the film by walking amongst these layers of fabric. As the seasons past and the Autumn leaves fall and the winter snow comes, you can stand amongst this phenomenon and experience as if it is happening all around you.

Unfortunately, the Arena exhibition ended a few days ago, on Sept 17, but there are many more amazing exhibitions currently on at Taipei Fine Art Museum. If you are in Taiwan or will be visiting, make sure to check them out!
